Description
A collection of programmes and leaflets/prospectuses for operatic and concert performances given at various venues in Bonn – principally the Beethovenhalle – between 1895 and 1991, held as individual items with the first of four boxes of programmes for German venues A-Z.
Concert programmes
The collection contains programmes for a range of concerts given at the Beethovenhalle, Bonn, includes programmes for the Abonnement-Konzert of the Städtischer Gesang-Verein given on 17 January 1895, 25 October and 15 November 1906 and 24 January 1907, directed by Dr K. Wolff (1895) and Hugo Grüters. There are handbills for the concerts in 1895 and 1907 and programmes with words for those in 1906. There are also programmes for performances by English orchestras given on 26 February 1971 (BBC Symphony Orchestra with pianist Michael Roll, conducted by Colin Davis) and 9 May 1977 (English Chamber Orchestra with director and soloist Pinchas Zukerman). Both contain biographical notes, with the former also including programme notes, photographs and a list of the orchestral ensemble.
The collection also contains a programme with words for a Dichter u. Tondichterabend/Gesellschaft für Literatur und Kunst-Bonn (with words) given at an unstated venue on 3 November 1906.

Programme books (with notes and photographs) for productions of
Verdi, Der Troubadour [Il Trovatore] and Offenbach, Tales of Hoffmann given at the Theater der Stadt Bonn during the 1957-58 and 1958-59 season. Also, two editions of the Bonner Theater-Zeitung (including programmes for 20 January and 3/4 April 1907) and a copy of Operbonn, das Magazin für Oper, Ballett und Konzert (May 1987).
Multi-venues/leaflet prospectuses
The collection includes leaflets/prospectuses for the 21st Beethovenfest (16-September-5 October 1967) and the Orgelstadt Bonn/Internationaler Orgelzyklus in Bonner Kirchen (April-December 1991). There is also a separate brochure (with biographical notes and photographs) for the International Master Classes given by the State College of Music Cologne [Staatliche Hochschule für Musik, Köln] in connection with the first of these events.

Building Information
The Portraits and Performance History Collection and its associated reading room is housed in a recently adapted space within the RCM's College Hall, its hall of residence for students.
There is step-free access for visitors.
Collections Overview
The Centre for Performance History (CPH) is a research centre and is also responsible for the stewardship of two well-established RCM research collections, the Museum of Instruments and the Portraits and Performance History Collection (PPHC). The latter houses a diverse collection relating to the history of performance including the RCM’s internationally famous collection of images, comprising 340 original portraits and sculptures and 25,000 prints and photographs, forming the most comprehensive archive of likenesses of musicians in the UK. The collection of 600,000 concert programmes from 1720 to the present day is of major importance for research into the history of music, society and culture.
