Description
A miscellaneous collection of brochures and programmes for festivals and performances given at various London venues between 1910 and 1926, held loosely in a single box. Also, a programme with words for a performance given at the Tonhalle, Zurich in 1936.
1. London
28 May 1910, Queen's Hall: Two Chopin Recitals given by Backhaus, no. 1 (with Analytical notes by F. Gilbert Webb, including musical examples, two copies).
24 October 1914, Royal Albert Hall: Patriotic Concert given by the Royal Choral Society and Queen's Hall Orchestra (with words).
11, 13 and 15 May 1915, Queen's Hall: Festival of British Music, given by the London Symphony Orchestra and London Choral Society, conducted by Emil Mlynarski, Thomas Beecham, Sir Edward Elgar and Arthur Fagge (Souvenir Programme/Brochure with words, Analytical and Historical Notes (with musical examples) and biographical notes (with photographs)).
16, 19, 21 and 23 June 1923 and 5, 8, 10 and 12 June 1926, Crystal Palace: Great Triennial Handel Festivals (Illustrated Souvenir Programme, with words, photographs and lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles). Also held are individual programmes from 5 June (General Rehearsals) and 8 June (Selection from Handel's Operas and Miscellaneous) 1926.
