Collection Summary
Collection Title
Catching a Spy (1865)
Unique Identifier
Mss Eur 284/3
Description
A handwritten handbill for a performance of ‘Catching a Spy’, given on board the ship ‘Alfred’ on 15 November 1865.
This was a dramatic performance, but the programme indicates that it included a number of ‘new songs by R. McAllister’ and 'dancing &c with grand music … accompanied by Violin, Banjo, Tambourine, Flute [illegible], Drum, Violoncello and Bassoon’.
The programme provides detailed information regarding the performing personnel.
Held with this document is what would appear to be a section of the script (also handwritten).
