A collection of illustrated programmes and wordbooks for three concerts given in Manchester between 1906 and 1909, held as part of a parcel of manuscript material relating to Dr Henry Watson, and given under his direction.
6 February 1906, Albion, Piccadilly: Consort of Vocal Musick, given as the 5th concert of the Gentlemen's Glee Club (72nd season).
20 March 1907, Athenaeum Musicke Room, George Street [Athenaeum Concert Room]: Consort of Musicke (chiefly vocal), given as the fourth and last subscription concert of the Manchester Vocal Society (40th season).
24 March 1909, Athenaeum Concert Hall [Room]: Programme of Old Time Music, given as the fourth and last subscription concert of the Manchester Vocal Society (42nd season).
All programmes includes lists of the vocal and orchestral ensembles. That for 24 March 1909 carries some brief descriptive notes on certain works.
This parcel also includes 'A Catalogue of Ancient and Modern Books of Music, MSS, &c, exhibited at the Manchester Town Hall, 2-6 January 1905'; letters from Watson and Thomas Lea Southgate to Charles Davis of Kew; and a press-cutting from the Manchester Guardian (21 November 1913) entitled 'A Unique Manchester Collection'.
