Berlin Concert direction Hermann Wolff (1891-95)
A miscellaneous collection of analytical programmes for five Philharmonische Concerte given at the Philharmonie, Berlin between 9 November 1891 and 14 January 1895, directed by Hans von Bülow (1891-1892) and Richard Strauss (1894-1895).
These were two-part concerts, with orchestral and concertante music in the first part and a single symphonic work in the second.
All programmes carry extensive historical and analytical notes, with musical examples, the majority of which are signed H.R. [Heinrich Reimann]. The programmes for the first two concerts provide a list of the orchestral ensemble.
All programmes include a brief announcement (with an outline programme) for the next performance in this series and conclude with a considerable number of musically-related advertisements.
