Description This large collection contains 14 volumes of programmes for the Crystal Palace Saturday Concerts. The volumes contain the programmes for all the concerts of each season from 1868-69 to 1880-81.
At the back of the 1873-1874 volume there are two programmes for concerts given by the Middlesbrough Philharmonic Society in the Odd-Fellows' Hall, 18/12/1873 and 20/3/1874.
In the back of the 1874-1875 volume there are two programmes for concerts given by the Middlesbrough Philharmonic Society in the Odd-Fellows' Hall, 1/12/1874 and 1/4, 1875.
In the back of the 1875-1876 volume there are two programmes for concerts given by the Middlesbrough Philharmonic Society in the Odd-Fellows' Hall, 17/12/1875 and 20/4/1876.
In the back of the 1876-1877 volume there is a programme for a concert given by the Middlesbrough Philharmonic Society in the Odd-Fellows' Hall, 11/4/1877.
In the back of the 1877-1878 volume there are two programmes for concerts given by the Middlesbrough Philharmonic Society in the Odd-Fellows' Hall, 19/12/1877 and 2/5/1878.
In the back of the 1878-1879 volume there are two programmes for concerts given by the Middlesbrough Philharmonic Society in the Odd-Fellows' Hall, 10/12/1878 and 17/4/1879. There is also a programme for a concert given by the Saltburn Choral Society, 14/5/1878.
In the back of the 1879-1880 volume there are three programmes for concerts given by the Middlesbrough Philharmonic Society in the Odd-Fellows' Hall, 25/11/1879, 17/12/1879, 15/4/1880.
In the back of the 1880-1881 volume there are two programmes for concerts given by the Middlesbrough Philharmonic Society in the Odd-Fellows' Hall, 21/12/1880 and 26/4/1881.

There is a futher collection of 16 volumes (volume one is missing) of programmes for each of the seasons from 1882-83 to 1893-4.

Collections Overview The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. After his death in 1911 he bequeathed the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council. Watson's original collection (some 16,700 volumes) has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisition since and has grown into one of the largest collections of music in any public library.
