Description
Collection of programmes, press releases, press cuttings, correspondence, notes by Mr. Acton regarding the concerts and general ephemera from the Dublin Festival of 20th Century Music 1970-84 presented by the Music Association of Ireland. The festival booklets contain programmes for the individual concerts and biographies with photos for the preformers and composers.
4/1/70-9/1/70: Examination Hall, Trinity: 11 individual festival programmes for each concert (sometimes, two held in one day), two of which were Invitation Symphony Concerts with the RTE Symphony Orchestra. Two programmes are accompanied by typewritten word-sheets. 1 leaflet providing details of all the concerts.
8/1/71 - 13/1/71: Examination Hall, Trinity and St. Francis Xavier hall, Upper Sherrard Street: Festival booklet for the 3rd Dublin Festival of 20th Century Music. Booklet contains essays by Acton and Fanny Feehan. Three first performances: 'Five Correlations for piano' by Gerard Victory, 'Dialogue for horn and piano' by John Kinsella and 'A Pack of Fancies for solo harp' by Brian Boydell.

Collections Overview
The National Library of Ireland has two collections consisting mainly of printed sheet music from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century. These include much material from the mainsteam western classical music tradition, but also material relating to little known Irish composers. The names of the two collections are the Joly Music Collection and the Additional Music collection. In addition the Library has a small but significant collection of music manuscripts. The general printed collections include some Irish ballad, folk-music and popular song collections.
