Collection Summary
Collection Title
Henry Wood Collection: London Musical Festival (1900)
Description
A collection of programmes from the London Music Festival, 1900. The programmes relate to concerts given at the Queen’s Hall, London. The festival consisted of orchestral concerts given by the combined orchestras of the Lamoureux Orchestra (Paris) and the Queen’s Hall Orchestra: the combined forces were advertised to contain 200 players. The concerts were conducted by either Henry Wood or Camille Chevillard. The programmes have been bound without their front covers and do not have dates of concerts; however, it is known from other extant programmes that the festival took place from 30th April – 5th May, 1900. The programmes contain analytical programme notes written by Edgar F. Jacques.
