Collection Summary
Collection Title
Cramer Concert Programmes (1912-1927)
Description
One volume of programmes, from 1913 to 1927. The spine of the volume reads “Cramer Concert Programmes 1923-1927”.
The majority of items in the collection are from Cramer Concerts, from 1923 to 1927. The Cramer Concerts programmes date from 11/10/1923 – the year of the first programme is inferred, but there are other programmes in the collection where the year 1923 is confirmed – to 31/03/1927. The collection is a complete series of programmes from the 46th to the 76th concert inclusive. The concerts were given at the Aeolian Hall, London and were largely given on alternate Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The programmes featured a variety of soloists and performers; the concerts often featured the Kendall String Quartet or Miss Rosabel Watson’s Orchestra on alternate weeks, and there are also a number of programme for concerts where the J.H. Squire String Celeste Octet performed. The programmes included songs, short instrumental pieces and often an item by an entertainer.
The end of the volume contains some miscellaneous programmes, marginally pre-dating the Cramer Concert programmes. There is one programme from a Cramer Ballad Concert given at the Bycullah Athenaeum, Enfield on 06/12/1912. There are also two miscellaneous programmes from the Wigmore Hall and the Aeolian Hall.
Arrangement:
The programmes are arranged chronologically, excepting the miscellaneous items at the end of the volume.

Collections Overview
During the course of 2008 a new facility providing collection storage space, reader facilities and office space will created for the Centre for Performance History at College Hall, the site of the RCM's Hall of Residence in London W12. This will eventually offer improved access to researchers, and provide the collection with a secure and stable environment, all in one place.
In order that the relevant parts of the collection can be packed and prepared for the move, and then re-shelved at the new facility as expeditiously as possible, all facilities and services (including photographic services and access to the programmes collection) of the Centre for Performance History are suspended until 12 January 2009. The Museum of Instruments will continue to operate a full service (including public opening during the summer vacation) throughout this period.
We apologize for the inevitable inconvenience that this closure will cause to colleagues, students, researchers and members of the public, but believe that the improvements that will result will benefit the long-term preservation of the collections and will provide enhanced access to them for all users.
